About the BMI Calculator
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple number that compares your weight to your height. It gives a quick, general sense of whether your weight falls in a healthy range for your height.
The math is straightforward: we divide your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. The result places you into one of four ranges — underweight, normal, overweight, or obese.
BMI is a useful screening tool, but it does not measure body fat directly and does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. Athletes, for example, may have a high BMI from muscle rather than fat. Treat it as a starting point, not a diagnosis.

For most adults, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered healthy. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is in the obese range.
